In 1889, Christian Schrott, a priest from Paris, decided to establish a cooperative of wine makers in Tramin (Tremeno). 100 years later, Tramin cooperative has become a company that coordinates the efforts of about 270 wine farmers over an area of 230 hectare. Tramin strictly monitors the cultivation, so they were able to achieve this high quality over the years. The efforts of this company and of highly gifted winemaker Willi Stürz have also not been unnoticed in the wine world outside of Italy. Their wines today are both nationally and internationally known for their consistently high quality.
Varietal wines from the bilingual region of Alto Adige are renown for their distinctive character and excellent quality. This quality is derived from the excellent mountain terroir, which includes fresh, fruity and vivid wines, including the Tramin cooperative.
