Puglia is located in the heel of the Italian boot. It is a vast, deserted area, dominated by large agricultural- and wine companies. The wines of Conti Zecca come from the city of Lecce, in the middle of the heel. Conti Zecca is one of the few family companies here. The family moved from Naples to Puglia in the 15th century, and since then they started producing wine on this domain.
Nowadays, the descendants of Count Zecca run this company. They all still carry the title Conti Zecca, which means Count of Zecca. Some of their vineyards are on the coast. These produce lighter wines because the soil is not so deep there. The inland wineries have a deeper soil. These wines are a bit fuller, with thicker fruit.
