The Van Zeller family is one of the most famous families in the Port area and owns several renowned Port houses, including Feuerheerds and Quinta Roriz. The origin of the well-known Zeller family dates back to the 13th century, to the Flemish cit of Mechelen and Nijmegen, where the family owned several buildings, namely the village of the Zellaer. During the 17th century, at the time of the religious wars of northern and central Europe during that time, the Zellers migrated to Spain and Portugal to settle. The ancestors of the Zeller family are the first members of 14 generations in the Port and Douro wine trade. In 1993, the family sold the famous Quinta Noval to the AXA group.
