45 years ago the brothers Franco and Carlo Pontiglione and Giuseppe founded Priola de Bel Colle. Since 2015 owned by the Bosio family of Santo Stefano Belbo.
The basis of the ideological concept that inspired our work was the hedonistic concept of producing quality wines that respect local customs and at the same time satisfy the taste of consumers. This was achieved thanks to the collaboration with the oenologist Paolo Torchio who led the winery from 1980 to 2015, the year in which Bel Colle became part of the Bosio Family Estates group.
The Bosio family, producers for 4 generations, has renewed cellar technologies without renouncing tradition: vinification in steel, aging of the great red wines, in large French oaks and Slavonian barrels.
The Verduno sub-area, called Monvigliero, has always been considered the best in the municipality, but also one of the best in the entire Barolo wine production area. It is a natural amphitheater in the southwest, the classic afternoon sun, where the specific microclimate improves the production of a very fragrant and delicate Barolo wine with a balanced body and soft tannins that are never hard. An extremely fine wine that retains these characteristics over time.
Borgo Castagni is pretty much the same as Bel Colle, in fact the winery is located in this city that unites the two municipalities Verduno and La Morra. It are the own vineyards where the control of the vegetative trend of the vineyard is followed almost daily, from pruning to harvesting, everything is checked and carried out by Bel Colle. The exposure is focused on the West – Southwest and the wines produced on chalk limestone soils with chalk veins have a unique odor set for intensity and persistence coupled with an excellent structure and excellent color intensity.
