Mount Riley Limited Release Otago Pinot Noir

This Limited Release Pinot Noir is a foray into Central Otago. The fruit was sourced from the Gibbston Valley sub-region which is generally cooler, but the extended ripening time enabled slow maturation on the vine and expressive flavour development.

The fruit was hand-picked late in the season. Once in the winery, there was minimal handling allowing the fruit to express its purity. The wine further developed while maturing in French oak barriques for 10 months prior to bottling.

The wine has a crimson color with purple hues. A complex and expressive nose showing dark fruits, cherries, wild thyme and a hint of floral. A wine of striking purity. Concentrated fruit is balanced with silky tannins and finishing with an acid freshness. Drinking well now.
